CFTop10 Pre-Season Entry

After a long layoff I have decided to continue the CFT10 blog. I will try and cover each of the Top10 weekly as the fall camps open up and more availability to the teams increases.

10. Boise State - Returns a freshman QB that performed well beyond his years. They've lost some talent, but they have recruited well to their scheme. Their defensive secondary should be exciting and they have a ton of skill players. Their Oregon match up should be very interesting.
9. Virginia Tech - Tyrod Taylor is a freakish athlete, much like many of his predecessors. If he can stay healthy he should be able to cause a lot of problems for the defenses (or lack thereof) in the ACC. Beamer will always field a stout defense. They will have some tests early, which I expect they will pass.
8. Penn State - High powered offense with a smidgeon of defense will be the sound out of Happy Valley this year, much like last year. I do not suspect they will be as lucky as they were last year but will play very well.
7. Alabama - Nick Saban is stockpiling tons of talent in Alabama. This is a Top10 team right now, but soon to be a Top5 team over the next several years. Saban defense and plenty of offensive weapons will do well for them this year, but they are still young.
6. Ohio State - You cannot count out Tressell. He always seems to be prepared to win 10 games. I see them winning the Big10, but they will most likely do so in ugly fashion. They have a lot of young talent and it will take them a little while to get going.
5. Oregon - Lots and lots of offense here. They are rebuilding their defense quite a bit but teams will have to score as much as they do in order to win. Blount is a pretty special back and will be in the top 5 rushers in the country if he is healthy.
4. USC - The only reason they are 4 is due to the massive attrition to the NFL and to the state of Washington. The good news is that they return unbelievable talent at every position and the only position not to have significant game experience (or starting experience for that matter) is QB. If they go into Ohio State and win, expect them to rise.
3. Oklahoma - Lots of returning talent on offense. Problem here.... No defense. They will roll through most of the Big12 due to their lack of defense and superior firepower. They will struggle with any team that shows they have a defense.
2. Texas - Same here that is true for Oklahoma. Major offense and no defense. I think their defense is better than Oklahoma and they beat them last year. Texas should be better this year and angry about being left out of the big game.
1. Florida - Tebow. Defensive speed. Tebow. I do not expect they will be as potent as last year and there are a lot of teams that will be better than last year. But they are the NC and so are #1 with all their returning talent.

Just missing the cut: Ole Miss. Oklahoma State. BYU. California.

Most surprising teams this year: North Carolina. Stanford. Baylor. Nevada.
